have faith in humanity -
28 June 2004
" You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty. "
-Mahatma Ghandi
Very inspirational I think. Can't recall where I found this, but I think it's a really good quote to remember, especially concerning the times we're living in.

exam results and PfS meeting -
21 June 2004
I got my exam results today. I was pretty nervous on the way. Results days have this habit of blanking out your mind on how your exams went and only allowing you to remember the bad memories of taking your exams. I tried not to think about it too much, as my mate and I bussed it to uni, talking about anything other than the looming results.
I passed! Can’t be bothered to build the suspense.
Saturday meeting at ELG to discuss nypo affiliating with Playing for Success (PfS) was pretty good. I liked that cool agenda Gavin did with the comic-chat script :). Also the fact we actually did something actively as a result of the meeting was good. Normally we just discuss things and then go away. This time we allocated work to be done to each member and got on with the work. The ideas Gwen, Riz and Spike got together for the Conference Day in September/October are brilliant.
The idea here was to write up like a minutes of the meeting, but I don’t feel like writing now and have to leave the computer soon. Maybe give full details some other time.

why i'm doing this site -
18 June 2004
I love writing. I love creative writing. That's why I have this site and the writing circle. This is really another addition to nypo. I have this 'blog' where I'm supposed to give the news and biz about the the Writing Circle and generally about creative writing. What I found is that its difficult for me to use it. No, not difficult, but restrictive. I don't like the style (I just can't stand Times New Roman font) and I'm limited to what I can do with it.
So then I thought about pitas.com which Gavin had recommended last summer. And I figured I can use this to do my stuff. And I'll be able to use it more often and customise it to any way I like.
This is of course just the beginning. Provided I have time and access to the damn net (definitely not at home), I can start working on this new project soon. Hopefully.
P.S. If anyone was expecting some juicy goss about my private life here, you're looking in the wrong place :p This will only be to do with experiences that I'm willing to share to the general public, so no private stuff. Mostly things to do with creative writing. :)

the curious incident of the dog at night-time -
18 June 2004
Title: The Curious Incident of the Dog at Night-time
Author: Mark Haddon
Fave quote:
...And when you look at the sky you know you are looking at stars which are hundreds and thousands of light years away from you... And that makes you seem very small, and if you have difficult things in your life it is nice to think they are what is called negligible...
Review:
I laughed alot. I think what people like about this book and why it won so many awards is because it provides a different, simpler way of thinking, new thoughts over old, familiar matters. It's really funny and moving.
